Herein, we present a nickel-catalyzed three-component reductive alkylacylation of electron-deficient activated alkenes with tertiary alkyl bromides and acid anhydrides. This method enables the efficient preparation of a variety of ketones with broad substrate scope and high functionality tolerance starting from simple precursors. On the basis of the preliminary mechanistic investigations, a catalytic cycle involving the synergistic interaction of nickel, zinc, and MgCl2 is proposed as the major reaction pathway.

The degradation of organic contaminants in aquatic systems has raised immense attention worldwide, and the second-order rate constant (k(SO4)(-)) of water pollutants oxidized by sulfate radical anion is an important index for assessing the degradation efficiency of organics. Herein, a new norm mathematical formula is defined. Based on this, four new descriptors are proposed and a QSPR model is developed for predicting k(SO4)(-) using 30 families of emerging organic pollutants in water. The statistical results fully prove that this model has good fitting effect and stability with R-2 of 0.8862, Q(LOO)(2) of 0.8466, and Q(5-fold)(2) of 0.8329, respectively. The validation results including cross validation, applicability domain analysis, and model comparison show that this model has good robustness, predictive performance, and reliability. These decent results indicate that the new norm mathematical formula is effective in calculating descriptors and the norm indexes have a great application for evaluating the transformation fate of organic pollutants by sulfate radical in aquatic systems.

A method for the annulation of amines and carboxylic acids to form pharmaceutically relevant azaheterocycles via organophosphorus P-III/P-V redox catalysis is reported. The method employs a phosphetane catalyst together with a mild bromenium oxidant and terminal hydrosilane reductant to drive successive C-N and C-C bond-forming dehydration events via the serial action of a catalytic bromophosphonium intermediate. Herein, we have introduced sulfonimidoyl azide as a precursor in a Cu-catalyzed Chan-Evans-Lam reaction with aryl boronic acid for the synthesis of N-aryl sulfonimidamide. The CuCl catalyzed reactions of sulfonimidoyl azides and aryl boronic acids have been proceeded in the presence of triethylamine (Et3N) as base in methanol at room temperature under oxygen atmosphere and resulted moderate to good yields of corresponding products in very short time.
